Missions
Covenant Church of Pittsburgh is actively involved in fulfilling the command of Jesus, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." (Mark 16:15)
We believe missions is a visible, tangible demonstration of a loving relationship with God. It is a lifestyle of the Church, both in the local region, through a variety of outreach ministries, and beyond by means of sending and supporting teams going to the uttermost parts of the earth. As our culture and world rapidly experience globalization, it is critical for the body of Christ to be at the forefront with the message of reconciliation by preaching the gospel and caring for the orphan, the widow and the poor. "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me." (Matthew 25:40) With this as our pursuit, we engage in praying, giving and going.
God has called us to be catalysts of Kingdom influence in our city and among the peoples and nations where we go. God moves in the exchange of friendships between people and cultures and He is blessed when we honor the unique diversities of the peoples that He has created. Our desire is to pursue God's heart and develop honed gifts of creative expression in order to be vehicles of the healing love of Jesus. We feel a particular calling to minister to children and youth in crisis, as well as to equip leaders.
We also support a variety of long-term missions around the world. Further, God is demonstrating Himself significantly in short-term missions that we support. We see Him working among the cultures to whom teams are sent and in the individual members of the team. Teams go out yearly to carry out missions around the world. In these last days we pray for the nations, and we seek the Lord to expand our territory as we take an active part in fulfilling His Great Commission.
Missions Prayer Group (MPG) meets the first Sunday of every month for prayer. It is crucial to our Spirit-filled Missions endeavors to voice our requests to God for the nations and for one another. Come join us and see what God is doing through CCOP Missions.
